Unisphere Networks Announces Tiered Technical Certification Program
Prometric selected as worldwide test administrator for data products
Westford, MA - March 12, 2002 — Unisphere Networks, Inc., a leading provider of IP infrastructure products to enable broadband data, voice and video services, today announced the Unisphere Networks Technical Certification Program, a new training and educational program offered to technical professionals worldwide. The company also announced that it has selected Prometric, a Thomson Company and the global leader in technology-enabled testing and assessment services, to deliver the certification program for its data product family through Prometric's global network of testing centers, available immediately.
The Unisphere Networks Technical Certification Program provides technical professionals with the opportunity to enhance and confirm their knowledge of Unisphere Networks' products and broaden their understanding of IP engineering. Technical skills are strengthened through the completion of multi-tiered paths designed to sharpen network planning and configuration capabilities, and assessed via comprehensive qualification exams. The three-tiered certification program includes:
- Tier-1: Certified Technical Specialist (CTS)—This certification validates an in-depth knowledge of Unisphere Networks' data, voice or management products. It provides professionals with the ability to increase network productivity through a greater understanding and support of Unisphere Networks' equipment.
- Tier-2: Certified Technical Trainer (CTT)—This certification confirms a detailed knowledge of Unisphere Networks' data, voice or management products, along with a mastery of knowledge-sharing ability. It provides technical trainers with credibility, and enables them to instruct/mentor others in Unisphere Networks' products.
- Tier-3: Certified Technical Expert (CTE)—This certification verifies possession of finely tuned technical skills and advanced knowledge of Unisphere Networks' data, voice or management products. This certification level sets the technical benchmark for expertise in IP engineering.
Unisphere Networks has selected Prometric to administer the Tier-1 Data exams. The three required tests for candidates attempting to become a Data CTS are "ERX Circuit Aggregation Configurations Basics," "ERX MPLS Configuration Basics" and "ERX Broadband Remote Access Server Configuration Basics." These tests will provide opportunities for candidates to increase and fine-tune their knowledge of data technology and troubleshooting skills.
"There is a growing need for specific product and industry education in today's marketplace and together, Unisphere Networks and Prometric are providing networking professionals with a valuable certification program and ample opportunities to expand their technical training," said Alison Indrisano, senior vice president, Client Services and Support, Prometric.
