What: Juniper Networks will showcase its newly announced Public Wireless Local Area Network (PWLAN) solution, which transforms wireless LAN service delivery. Based on the Model for Integrated Network Transformation (MINT), this unique approach transforms today's disparate, operationally-intensive PWLAN offerings from best-effort commodity Internet access to a profitable, value-added service model. Leveraging Juniper Networks E-series platform, the industry's leading broadband edge solution, and the SDX-300 Service Deployment System, this solution enables service providers to reduce operational expenses while cultivating new revenue streams from the growing business and consumer demand for mobile connectivity via 802.11b (Wi-Fi) hotspots.
Juniper Networks has introduced a new architecture for delivering scalable hotspots and will demonstrate how Public WLAN using Wi-Fi hotspots can be offered as a new revenue-generating service complementary to 2.5 and 3G mobile data services. Using proven broadband platforms and subscriber management technology applied to Wi-Fi access, the interactive demonstration shows clientless login, self provisioning of services, guaranteed bandwidth, and secure VPNs.
In addition to the New Public WLAN solution, Juniper Networks will highlight its solutions for the mobile backbone. Again based on the MINT, the mobile backbone solution allows mobile operators to cap spending on ATM infrastructure and seamlessly transition to a cost-effective IP-routed MPLS infrastructure. Juniper Networks supports the current multi-protocol environment by using Layer 2 MPLS VPNs to provide connectivity between ATM or frame relay nodes. This investment lays a foundation for future real-time IP services in both CDMA2000 and GPRS/WCDMA mobile networks.
The Ericsson and Juniper Networks jointly developed J20 GGSN will also be on display.
