BX 7000 Multi-Access Gateway
Deployed in cell sites, the BX 7000 reliably transports TDM, ATM and packet traffic over IP/MPLS using pseudowire emulation technology. It supports today's wireless technologies as well as emerging standards like WiMAX and LTE.
Juniper Networks BX 7000 Multi-Access Gateway represents a new approach to mobile backhaul, where bandwidth-hungry service demands have put mobile operators under extreme pressure. Juniper's solution for this challenging segment is scalable, flexible, cost effective and ensures a smooth migration to future technologies.
Accommodating Today's and Tomorrow's Needs
The BX 7000 reliably transports TDM, ATM and packet traffic over IP/MPLS using pseudowire emulation technology. Designed for the space and environmental constraints of the cell site, the BX 7000 supports common uplink types such as copper, Ethernet and DSL and emerging technologies such as WiMAX and LTE. Additionally, the product supports a range of timing synchronization options, while a slot for field-replaceable timing modules provides "future proofing."
By deploying the BX 7000, mobile operators can retain their existing investments in 2G and 3G cell sites while reaping the benefits of IP/MPLS-based transport. Services can be migrated gradually, for example, by offloading the high-growth data transport as a first step.
The BX 7000 is part of Juniper's best-of-breed mobile backhaul solution, which addresses an operator's current OPEX and bandwidth challenges while paving the way for future migration to 4G technologies. This solution includes Juniper's M-series Multiservice Edge Routing portfolio, its MX-series Ethernet Services Routers and JUNOScope management framework software. When deployed together, these products create a superior wireless network architecture.
Compact Form Factor
The BX 7000 is sized and priced to match the requirements of cell sites. It is temperature hardened for outdoor deployments and other environments where non-optimal conditions exist.
The BX 7000 has modular interface slots that can provide a wide range of backhaul options. The modular expansion slot simplifies sparing strategies for operators who use a variety of backhaul technologies (DSL, Ethernet, T1/E1, etc.) across their network.
Advanced Clocking Module
An optional advanced clocking module gives operators a range of clocking options and the ability to change clocking technologies as their networks evolve. Operators can pick the clocking strategy of their choice, like choosing between T1/E1 line timing, Synchronous Ethernet, NTR (DSL), BITS, adaptive and IEEE 1588 v2.
IP/MPLS-based Metro Backhaul Architecture
Operators who deploy the BX 7000 can leverages Juniper's unique experience with multi-service networks, including a decade of IP/MPLS leadership. The BX 7000 can be deployed in both IP/MPLS and IP-only networks. This enables service providers to consolidate multiple technologies – including those from multiple base station vendors – on a converged backhaul network
JUNOScope for Zero-Touch Deployment
JUNOScope is an advanced solution for both provisioning and monitoring pseudowires. The software delivers an interoperability-guaranteed solution for provisioning pseudowires (thus keeping operations simple and lower cost) and monitoring them (thus helping the carrier's service reliability). JUNOScope allows the BX 7000 to configure itself out-of-the-box without manual intervention, making it ideal for mass deployment of BX 7000s at minimal operational cost.
This section lists basic specifications for the BX 7000. For further details, refer to the hardware installation manuals on www.juniper.net/techpubs/hardware/.
